Daredevil and its legacy
The plot revolves around a not-so-blind ninja skilled lawyer named Matthew Murdock, who is a lawyer by day and a crime-fighting vigilante by night named Daredevil. Charlie Cox (Daredevil) does an amazing job as the main hero; you will instantly fall in love with him after the very first episode.
Daredevil became blind at the age of nine, which gives Matt (Daredevil) heightened senses such as super hearing and smell. He became a ninja (highly skilled warrior) when his mentor, Stick, taught him how to defend himself against harm.
The main antagonist of the show is a crime boss named Wilson Fisk, who has unlimited resources and is pure evil. Matt Murdock and his friends Karen and Foggy help him take the guy down.
A little bit about Karen Page: she is a highly talented investigative journalist who is hell-bent on taking down Fisk, as he framed her for a murder she did not commit, although Matt saved her from the fraudulent case. Foggy is another side character who is also a lawyer and is a friend of Matt since college.
Wilson Fisk is an Al Capone kind of guy who lives a very private life in Hell’s Kitchen and virtually owns half of the police department in that area and strong relations with the Chinese mob. His main enterprise consists of human trafficking, drug smuggling, and forcibly taking over people’s properties. A subplot revolves around the Russian mob and Fisk, whom Fisk betrays by blowing up their main operation center after one of the main guys embarrassed him in front of his girlfriend.
The show is extremely addictive with a great plot, writing, and fight scenes, although it would be a lie if I said Deborah Ann Woll (Karen) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk) did not do a phenomenal job in keeping you engaged every time they got screen time.
Good news, Daredevil may come for another season in mid-2025.
